Brian grew up here and is honored to serve as your voice in Olympia. Working together, he's focused on programs and policies that protect our unique quality of life and stimulate our local businesses. Local, family wage jobs, are a proimary focus for him.
After serving ten years in the Washington State House of Representative s(1994–2004), Hatfield resigned in 2004 to work full-time for Lieutenant Governor Brad Owen.
He was appointed to the Senate in 2006 to replace Mark Doumit. He received 73.89% of the vote in the 2007 special election and was re-elected, without opposition, to a four-year term in 2008.
In the Senate, Hatfield Chairs the Agriculture & Rural Economic Development Committee and serves on the Natural Resources, Oceans & Parks Committee and the Transportation Committee.
Brian is the widowed father of a teenage son and an adult step-daughter. He enjoys canoeing, camping, and all types of team sports.
