Ann Rivers is running for Senate to put her experience as a business owner, state lawmaker, and La Center resident to work for the people of the 18th District.
Ann is currently finishing the term of State Senator Joe Zarelli, who resigned May 31 after 17 years in the State Senate. Prior to her Senate appointment, Ann was serving in the Washington State House. She was elected to the House in 2010.
After taking office in 2010 as State Representative, Ann kept her campaign promise to make audits a part of the budgeting process. She will continue to work that legislation until it becomes law. Ann also committed to work to reduce regulations and taxes and voted on numerous occasions to do just that.
Ann is owner of a public relations and government affairs consulting firm, and she lobbied for the Battle Ground Public Schools during the 2009 Legislature. Ann has also been a member of the Building Industry Association of Clark County since 2005.
Ann graduated from Central Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. She is married to Fred Rivers, a Senior Account Manager for Nalco Company, and has two sons, Derick and Rex, who reside in La Center, WA.
