Educate, Empower, Advocate, Elect
Elections are our opportunity -- as parents, caregivers, teachers, and people who care about our schools and our future -- to elect education champions who will stand up for our policy priorities and get better results for all our kids.
We work hard to elect education champions, so that when education issues are on the table during legislative sessions, we know we can work with lawmakers and community members to put students and schools first.
We have conducted a fair, transparent and clear process that resulted in an endorsement for the candidate who is most closely aligned with our education policy platform and who displays the greatest leadership potential. We sent a survey on our policy priorities and our platform to our members and supporters, and their responses helped influence who we endorsed. In addition,
- A written questionnaire based on our policy platform was emailed to all legislative candidates and governor's race candidates
- Some candidates, particularly incumbents, were endorsed on the strength of their track record on education issues and their written questionnaire. Other candidates were invited for in-person interviews with members of our PAC board.
- Candidates were evaluated based on their responses to the written questionnaire, the in-person interview, their alignment with our policy platform and our candidate criteria.
- After considering all relevant information, we either endorsed one candidate, made a joint endorsement or made no endorsement.
Our state PAC board, made up of local leaders representing our membership, staff and advisory board members, voted on all final endorsement decisions.
