District 9: Thom Druffel

Thom Druffel is a selfless and tireless advocate for Nashville public schools. He has a proven track record of leadership and, though he’s usually too humble to say it, he’s been recognized numerous times for his advocacy. As an early supporter of the Academies program in Nashville, he was named the Chamber’s CEO Champion of the Year; as a result of his volunteer work in Metro schools, he was named the PENCIL Foundation’s Volunteer of the Year. Thom would help refocus the board away from politics and on results for all kids. We particularly liked his focus on recruiting and retaining excellent teachers: “It all starts with the teachers. We need to attract and retain the best teachers. They need to be properly supported and compensated. We need to listen to our teachers.”
