Kelsey manages communications and online organizing efforts at Stand for Children Oregon. She moved to Portland from Washington, DC three years ago in pursuit of a more mountainous, but equally civic-minded city. Kelsey spent her first year in Portland as an AmeriCorps VISTA, expanding the marketing capacity at Hacienda CDC. In addition to her paid gig, Kelsey volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters, serves as Board President of the Northwest Trail Alliance (NWTA), operates NWTA’s ST240 trail building machine, and with six other women raised $17,500 for Big City Mountaineers in a fundraising climb of Mt. Shasta.
Before moving to Portland, she held communications roles at a restaurant marketing firm and at Earth Day Network, an advocacy nonprofit that coordinates Earth Day events around the globe. She was a serial volunteer while in Washington, DC, and co-coordinated a fundraiser for the Family Health and Birth Center.
Kelsey received a degree in Spanish and visual media from American University, where she was also on the swim team. When she’s not on her laptop or plugged into her phone, she likes to mountain bike, windsurf, trail run, study French and go out for the occasional salsa night.
