We’re celebrating an historic moment at Stand for Children this month. Twenty years have passed since the moment civil rights icon Rosa Parks uttered, "If I can sit down for justice, surely you can stand for children” to more than 300,000 people gathered at the Stand for Children rally at the Lincoln Memorial.
In that moment Stand for Children was born. And since, we’ve collectively worked to make the lives of children better by fighting for important education policies and investments.
Stand was formed by courageous civil rights leaders, including Marian Wright Edelman, who also founded The Children’s Defense Fund—an organization that’s served as a watch dog for children’s issues for decades.
