Fight for Teachers
Oklahoma ranks 48th in the nation in teacher pay. Only Mississippi and South Dakota pay teachers worse than Oklahoma does. Teachers haven’t had a raise in nearly a decade, and it’s gotten so bad that some fast food chains pay more than a starting teacher salary in Oklahoma. That means fewer people are choosing teaching as a career, and many who do flee to states bordering Oklahoma for much better pay. Forty percent of them leave Oklahoma classrooms in less than five years.
The best way to improve student learning is ensuring a qualified, great teacher is at the head of every Oklahoma classroom. Join us in the fight to advocate for Oklahoma teachers and students and tell lawmakers and stakeholders we MUST invest in our children.
