Our Stand parents are focused on increasing voter participation in elections across the state. We’re proud to launch Escúchanos OKC! – Spanish for “listen to us” – with the goal of increasing voter participation in the Oklahoma City school board election, specifically among Hispanic parents.
Decisions about the future of the more than 46,000 students in OKCPS are being made by fewer than 1,000 people. And for the Hispanic community the number of voters is even more shocking—less than 3 percent. With more than 50 percent of Oklahoma City’s students being Hispanic or English Language Learners, it’s imperative that this community’s voice is heard.
Stand parents have committed over 95 volunteer hours to connecting directly with the voters of Oklahoma City to help us achieve our goal. Part of that effort is asking voters to commit to showing up on Election Day.
Will you join us at the polls on February 9th and take a stand for kids?
