Why does Oklahoma need these standards?

Of the Oklahoma students who took the ACT college readiness exam, only 23% were ready for college or a career according to that company. In 2011, the Nation’s Report Card showed only a third of 8th graders performed at grade level or above in English or math.

The Common Core State Standards are based on research about what it takes to be prepared for postsecondary courses and training that leads to careers. They have been tested, and they are proven to work.
