Melissa Abdo - Republican for House District 69

Melissa Abdo is a public education champion. She helped create the Tulsa area Parent Legislative Action Committee (PLAC), an advocacy group that works on increasing parent and community awareness about legislative issues impacting public education in Oklahoma.

While working with PLAC, Melissa worked to encourage communication among parents educators and legislators in understanding complex education issues and finding solutions. Additionally, Melissa has first -hand experience in how a school district works as a Jenks Public Schools board member.

When it comes to our teachers, Melissa believes we must begin to respect the profession and value educators. Abdo also believes teachers choosing to work in the most very challenging schools across the state must be better supported. As a lawmaker, Melissa will work to increase the money going into the school funding formula and allow districts the flexibility to address the unique needs of their students. Melissa and her husband, John, have been married for 11 years, and have two children Jolie, 10, and Jenna, 7.

In her own words…

What are you top budget priorities for public schools in Oklahoma? “Provide regionally competitive salaries to increase the teacher pipeline. Provide money to the formula to lower class sizes. Fully fund the reforms to allow successful implementation.”

Will you vote for Mellisa Abdo on June 24th?
