National Staff

Krista Spurgin

National Campaigns Director

Krista is the National Campaigns Director for Stand for Children. This position supports all of our states in their electoral work from school board to state legislature to ballot initiatives. Originally from Nebraska, she previously served as the Government Affairs Director for Stand for Children Colorado. She was responsible for developing and implementing Stand Colorado’s policy, legislative and political strategy.

Krista graduated from the University of Nebraska and then moved to D.C. to work for an organization that brought high school students from across the nation to spend a week learning about civics education and community involvement. After this, she managed multiple state legislative campaigns, served as director for the State Senate Caucus where she managed a statewide program to elect candidates and worked on the 2012 presidential campaign in North Carolina. Krista has served as campaign manager for multiple candidates and entire campaigns and also recruited candidates and trained campaign staff.

In her free time, Krista enjoys being outdoors, whether it is hiking, camping, floating down a river, or just a pick-up game of volleyball.
