Why We Endorse Avery Bourne: “During her short tenure in the legislature, Rep. Bourne has advocated for better school funding and an end to “prorating” payments to school districts. We’re glad to endorse her as she continues the fight to bring fair funding to schools in her district.”
Bio: State Representative Avery Bourne (R-Raymond) was sworn into office on February 18, 2015 to represent the 95th House District of Illinois. Representative Bourne grew up in rural Montgomery County where her family has farmed for generations.
Prior to her appointment as Representative, Bourne was attending Washington University School of Law in St. Louis where she was a Dean’s Fellowship Scholar. Representative Bourne holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Columbia College where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with honors and distinction.
After working in legislative offices in Illinois as well as in Missouri and Washington, D.C., Bourne wanted to bring about change here at home. With a desire to bring a new perspective to Springfield, Bourne sought the appointment to the General Assembly.
Representative Bourne’s priorities include promoting job growth, strengthening our agricultural community, advocating for vocational education, and passing meaningful political reforms. In addition, Bourne continues to fight for common sense property tax relief and is working closely with the educational community to find solutions to help our local schools.
Representative Bourne currently serves on the following Illinois House Committees: Agriculture & Conservation; Consumer Protection; Counties & Townships; Transportation: Vehicles & Safety; and Veterans’ Affairs. The 95th district includes Montgomery as well as portions of Christian, Macoupin and Madison Counties; in addition it contains the cities of Taylorville, Litchfield, Hillsboro and Carlinville.
