Growing up, Kate’s parents who were both teachers told Kate and her three sisters that their “job” was to get a good education. Kate is the proud product of Colorado public schools and the University of Colorado, Boulder. After college, Kate moved to Washington, DC to join the staff of U.S. Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell where she served as Deputy Press Secretary and Press Secretary. When Senator Campbell retired, Kate joined the law firm Holland & Knight as a Strategic Communications Advisor, helping clients develop and implement communications and government relations strategies. While at Holland & Knight, Kate was drawn to the work of the firm’s education policy practice where she started working with the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). In 2010, Kate joined CCSSO as Director of Communications. There, Kate was responsible for developing and implementing CCSSO's strategic communications plan, as well as managing media, marketing, and social media efforts.
In June 2014, Kate returned home and joined the Stand for Children Colorado team as the Marketing and Communications Director. She will focus on promoting Stand’s work to ensure all children graduate from high school prepared for, and with access to, college.
