Alex Sánchez

Denver Director and Director of Strategic District Initiatives

Alex grew up in a tiny town near Puerto Vallarta in the state of Jalisco, Mexico. At the age of 10, his family moved to Basalt, Colorado where Alex first experienced snow, skiing and the U.S. education system as an English language learner.

Alex is the first in his immediate family to graduate from high school and go on to college, graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University.

Before joining Stand, Alex spent eight years working as a senior administrator and adviser to superintendents and school boards of some of the largest and most diverse urban school districts in the states of Colorado, Texas and Florida.

Alex started his urban school district career in Denver Public Schools where he created a brand new department to better connect the education system with families, especially economically disadvantaged and non-English speaking parents.

Alex is the founder and first host of the award-winning immigrant integration radio shows Educa con Alex Sánchez in Denver, CO and Austin, TX.

Before entering the k-12 education sector, Alex had a successful career in Corporate America, developing strategic partnerships for Pfizer, Inc.
