Denver, Colorado – Stand for Children Colorado Executive Director, Jeani Frickey Saito issued the following statement today congratulating MiDian Holmes on her appointment to the Denver Public Schools (DPS) Board of Education. Holmes was appointed by members of the DPS board to fill out the term of Landri Taylor, who resigned from the board earlier this year. She will represent District 4 in Northeast Denver until the fall of 2017 when the term expires.
“As a DPS graduate, and now an active parent of three in Denver schools, MiDian truly understands the district and has a vision for the work ahead. MiDian has been an active member of Stand for Children for years, advocating for policies in Denver and across the state to help ensure all Colorado children receive an education that prepares them for success after high school. We know she will be a champion for Denver’s students in her role on the board. DPS board members led a robust and comprehensive process to identify qualified group of applicants. We applaud their efforts and fully support their final selection. We look forward to working with MiDian in her new role.”
